New photos of Kris Kremers shorts have come to light. After nearly 8 years since Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon mysteriously disappeared in Panama in 2014, our team has received more case photos from an anonymous source.
If you’re unfamiliar with this disappearance case, I strongly suggest you read Unsolved: Kris Kremers And Lisanne Froon In Panama (FULL STORY).
Last year in 2020, I teamed up with Matt and Romain to create a group that’s committed to getting more answers about the disappearance case. Romain wrote about the new photos in French on the Camille G website (link). In addition to gathering new information, we’re also planning a research trip to Panama later this year (2021) to gather more information about the case. If you’re interested in the case, please consider supporting our effort to find more answers.
New Photos Of Kris Kremers Shorts
After Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon disappeared, some of their clothing items were later discovered in the Serpent River (also called the Culebra River), more than 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) from where they were last thought to be.
One of the items found in the river was Kris Kremers blue jean shorts. In many of Kris and Lisanne’s last photos, Kris can be seen wearing the blue denim shorts that investigators would later find in the Culebra river:
When her shorts were discovered by investigators, her shorts had numerous holes, some of which were new holes that didn’t exist prior to their disappearance (as shown in numerous photos). It’s uncertain if the new holes were caused naturally from the river conditions, or caused by something else altogether. In the main article photo (also here), it’s clear that a sizable hole was inflicted on the shorts, possibly from a fall that Kris experienced while she was missing.
Found Caught In A Waterfall
When investigators found Kris’s denim shorts, they were discovered caught in a tree that was partially submerged in a waterfall on the Serpent River. Contrary to a common misconception, the shorts were not found to be folded. They were found caught in a small waterfall, as any other debris would be caught.
The official reports stated that the jean shorts had no trace of bodily fluid, nor skin cells of any type. Furthermore, the shorts did have some dirt on them.
Tag: “Divided” Brand Name
In the photo above, the brand of the shorts can be read as “DIVIDED”, a common women’s brand that’s sold through H&M clothing stores. Divided brand makes both normal jean pants and jean shorts.
The same logo can also be found on other H&M jeans that are sold online. Below the matching logo can be seen:
Divided Jeans are described as “This is the line that pads the wardrobes of college students everywhere, rivaling Forever 21 for most affordable purchase.”
According to the information provided, the pants were a size 38 European, which is a size 7 or 8 by United States standards.
The leather tag shown above is illegible due to being soaked with water, which darkens denim fabric and water-logs leather materials.
Where Kris Kremers’ Shorts Were Found
The GPS coordinates of the site where the denim shorts were discovered was:
- Latitude : 8.877639
- Longitude : -82.408389
- 08° 52′ 39.5″ N 82° 24′ 30.2″ O
When placed on a map, you can see that Kris’s shorts were found approximately 5 Kilometers from where Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon were hiking. This location is also past the first cable bridge, yet approximately 500 meters before the second cable bridge.
These photos of Kris’s denim shorts not only potentially provide further clues about their disappearance but they also demonstrate that there’s much more information about the case that wasn’t previously known to the public.
When our team get’s more information about the disappearance case of Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon we publish a new article and update our existing information about the case. Our goal is to methodically gather information and find more answers. Like you, we want more answers.
Our Research Team
To conduct further research about the disappearance of Kris Kremers and Lisanne Froon, our team plans to visit Boquete, Panama later this year (assuming Coronavirus isn’t an issue). We’ve determined that we can make the most progress on the case if we hike the jungle trails ourselves and generate maps of the trails with the GPS coordinates from our hike.
Support our expedition: Mapping The Jungle Trails Of Panama
With this research we might be able to pinpoint approximately how far Kris and Lisanne could have walked before making their first emergency phone calls. This is critical information that nobody has ever gathered before.
If you’re interested in this disappearance case, and want more answers (rather than just rumors and theories), then please consider supporting our team. This work is important and a trip to Panama will be expensive. Our team has already invested substantial time and money from our own pockets to get more answers. We need support to conduct more research.
As always, thank you to my readers and a big thank you to everyone that’s contributed to our research so far.
Please note: Our team is committed to accuracy of information and respecting the privacy of those involved with this disappearance case. If you have any supplementary information regarding the case, or if you were involved in this case and feel that the information available in this article impacts your privacy, please contact our team.
In the videos made by Romain’s Drone, I noticed that you didn’t make any set of videos that investigated the left and right flanks, from the place of photo 505 to the place of photo 508, that is, making the drone take off, exactly of points contained within the track. It would also be very important to take videos of various points along the trail, starting from the location in photo 508 up to a walking distance of about 2 hours in the direction of the so-called “cable bridge”. This would give us a sense of the area to the possible place the girls made the first emergency call from.
I have a different theory regarding the night photos. One I haven’t seen anywhere else. I had 2 curious little boys. The photographs were taken in rapid sequence over a short period of time. My first instinct was “someone doesn’t know how to use it so are playing around”, just like my sons would have done as toddlers. I’m not saying a toddler was in the jungle, just that the photos weren’t taken by the girls, but by someone or something else who didn’t know what they were doing. Whatever it was when the authorities found the camera they deleted the image – probably taken by the “other” of themselves. Whatever happened to those 2 girls, I hope we find out one day but I don’t think it will be an easy explanation. I also think you guys at Imperfect Plan will be the ones to find the truth. Good luck guys.
Rest in peace girls. I hope one day we find the truth. I also hope there are further expeditions to find more of the girls remains. Their heaviest and strongest bones like their skulls, thigh or shin bones.
I’m relatively new to this tragic story so this may have been addressed but do you think that Lisanne may have been delirious and hallucinating in the night. I’m wondering if she was hearing voices and thought it was searchers so she kept flashing the camera hoping someone would see the light?
Also, I have read that a water bottle was found in the backpack. Does anyone know if there was water still in it and how much? It’s doubtful they would get dehydrated if they still had water with them.
Your work is very detailed and thorough. Your efforts are much appreciated.
@Donna Gates Thomas
I think by the time the night photos were taken one or both of the girls was/were in a very weakened state, and they were lying down trying to get some rest.
I think perhaps they heard night searchers in the area and they were shooting up at the night sky trying to illuminate the trees and branches above them so that the searchers would see the flashes of light on the trees around them. That is what I would have done.
The denim shorts in an earlier photo appear to be torn in the back. Looking closely at the photo of Kris as she’s got her back to the camera and you’ll see what I’m speaking of.
The link towards “Unsolved: Kris Kremers And Lisanne Froon In Panama (FULL STORY)” at the beginning of the article is broken, I get an error 404 when I click
Thank you for pointing that out. I’ve fixed the link.
Keep up the good work that you all are doing. I would like to make a contribution but I don’t do Facebook.
I would like to bring up the missing photo, number 509.
I think there are three possibilities as to how this photo disappeared.
1. The photo was taken but Kris and/or Lisanne did not like how it turned out so it was deleted immediately before taking any further photos.
2. The photo was taken of one or more strangers approaching who meant the girls harm. The intruders forced Lisanne to immediately delete the photo that had taken of them, the intruders.
3. The photo was removed using a computer by law enforcement or other officials when discovered back in Boquette.
Also, how can I obtain a copy of that tourist map of Boquette and surrounding area that Lisanne was looking at when they were dining?
Concerning the direction they were going, which was north, do you suppose it slipped the girls’ minds that they had crossed the Continental Divide and they thought they were following the river downhill into Boquette?
Hi Jim, thanks for your comment and questions.
Regarding Photo #509, it’s all open to speculation. Matt wrote a lot about it here:
Unfortunately nobody involved in the investigation has ever answered why Photo #509 was missing. It’s unlikely that investigators would admit if they had “accidentally” deleted it.
Regarding your question about the tourist map, we’ve looked into finding a copy but we always came up empty handed. If you can get your hands on a copy, that would be awesome. We’d love to see a high-resolution photo of the front and back.
After the Mirador, there are two paths that are very distinct. One goes south to Boquete, the other goes north further on the trail. It would be difficult to confuse the two. Both have very different entrances. And the position of the mountain is clear. In fact, Boquete can be seen in the distance (when looking at the southern-facing trail). Additionally, on the northern-facing trail, there are 3 rivers within 40 minutes of hiking north. So it’s very unlikely they could have chosen the wrong path accidentally. When we were at the mirador, never was there a question which direction we were facing.
The damage on the back of the shorts look more like drag and snag marks. If its a hard grainy surface it’ll damage fibers.
The small marks look more like snags from something pointy, like a tree branch. The large mark could be made by any rough surface constantly rubbing against the shorts.
What I find really odd is all the marks are vertical. It would make sense if they were horizontal because they could easily be made from sliding down a rocky surface. I can’t think of any reason why the shorts would be rubbed sideways long enough to make that large distressed gap.
People have hiked the path looking for the area the night photos were taken, Ive seen plenty of photos of areas around the 1st two monkey bridges that are not on any websites.
Large rip on a pair of quite tough looking denim shorts suggests a fall perhaps penetrating wound to the buttock. This would carry a high likelihood of infection in the circumstances especially if a foreign body was introduced and remained in situ, eg a very deep splinter off a branch, possibly also bleeding though major vessels are very deep so less likely. Sepsis could take shape in days.
I am coming around to the view that the large number of photos in the night was for the purposes of illumination in a last ditch attempt, clearly highly dangerous at night, of Froon to get Kremers out of the jungle no matter what. At this point Kremers may have been clearly dying. This is suggested by the inability to use Kremers iphone due to not having access to the SIM PIN. It would also be clear enough to Froon that this lifeline was now severed. Thus the benefit of travel at night outweighed the risk.
Given the angles of the photos, maybe Kremers was dragged. The last is of the back of the head of her friend.
Although it may be that the last picture of the back of Kremers head is accidental, it may also represent an attempt to see if Kremers is still alive in pitch black under the canopy or the traumatic and grief stricken circumstances such that Froon would not want a face photo of her now dead friend there on camera.
Perhaps alternatively intended in some way as an attempt to visually map the location in a desperate situation in the inky blackness of the jungle with a view to returning. Less likely as the photo series was over 3 hours.
We know that there were several metatarsal fractures in the foot in boot found, belonging to Froon. The most probable event is these were sustained in a fall or perhaps a crush injury. It would be interesting to see if the fractures were biomechanically walkable. This would be a matter for a pathologist and orthopedic surgeon/physician, perhaps someone with both qualifications. Even better if the foot was properly imaged and some effort made to determine the integrity of the ligaments to determine the force vectors.
If walkable, then probability suggests two separate fatal events for the two girls. Given the darkness, lack of food, water and sleep, driven to distraction by the elements and very unfamiliar circumstances, terror of seeing your friend die, easy enough to fall from error.
The main mystery to me is a technical one is the relative preservation of Froon’s long bone marrow and a roll of pretibial skin found.
Another is the ‘clean’ “cut” through the tibia and presumably fibula. If not done, this warrants more scrutiny from microscopy and biophysics to determine how it may have occurred.
A last observation is the absence of evidence for attempts at texting but this may actually be a function of what is recoverable from phones in this situation. Presumably they were too damaged to power on or to access eg phone photo data, emails and texts.
Final note. It may seem trivial and is definitely a footnote, but packing a small compass can in this situation save your life, especially with a small map, even a photo on your phone. Even without the map, the compass can get you in the roughly right direction provided you take simple bearings before your trip.
It looks like when the girls realized they were being stalked they tried to run and that’s when the injuries took place. Such as running & slipping down a Slope only to tear her shorts on a branch. I do believe they were captured & taken to another inside location in the jungle where there lives were taken. So, the combination of injuries were from trying to escape their stalkers/captors as well as the initial cause of death by homicide & dismemberment. It also appears to coincide with the taxi driver having knowledge of their circumstances & who is involved in their deaths as well as the other gang member who’s phone had pictures of what appeared to be the 2 girls. The backpack was def planted later & the clothes were thrown into the River at the same time as planting the backpack where they were found hanging from the branch. The nighttime images on the camera were either from one of the girls being scared in the dark jungle & used it to see where the noises were coming from, to capture the person stalking them when they heard the noises because they ran & hadn’t been caught yet after their injuries were sustained or from the perpetrator themselves to make it look as though the girls were just lost in the jungle. Now that the case is closed, I’m wondering if the parents received all the girls belongings that were found at the scene so that they can have their own DNA/fingerprint testing done. Also, would want to hire a P.I. Familiar with the culture & area that could blend in & find further answers. Perhaps a movie, book could help get this solved as well as fund the investigation & bring light to new suspects & lost information. Praying this is solved one day soon.
The notion that they were being actively chased or were captured yet managed to make an SOS sign out of little bits of paper and also fashion a signal from plastic bags, and that they continued to have access to their phones and camera is frankly absurd and overlooks very obvious evidence which points to them being alone, trapped and injured. If there was external involvement, it wasn’t in the early days of their disappearance.
Make a youtube video about your coming expedition and that you need funds. You are my biggest heroes I want you to know that what ever happends from now on.
Both fascinating and tragic
My tip for further investigation; In the photo that was taken on top of the stone, where a stripe appears, which looks like a backpack strap, to see the fibers is the color of that material.Look in the region for something made similar or equal to that material.
If anybody goes there to try to reveal more evidence I put the pieces of the puzzle together won’t you be in danger of the local gangs drug lords or whoever is responsible for their disappearance or will you have command protection which seems like it would be very difficult to get a lot of protection unless you bring a small platoon with you armed and dangerous
You know in my opinion the police didn’t search the area well and should have looked in all the houses and cabins that were close to the area where the remains of the girls were found. It’s simple. Thanks
Do we know whether the shorts button/zipper were still closed when they find it?
Do you know if the big rip on the shorts is the back or front?
As mentioned in the article they were actually found caught in a tree that was partially submerged in a waterfall on the Serpent River and also just 5 km from where they were hiking, past the first cable bridge. Now, in my eyes 5 km isn’t that far so the shorts were found not far from where they were known to be hiking. Could it be, that this is where Kris maybe fell/supposedly injured herself, the shorts got caught in the tree on the way down? The fact that this was already after the first cable bridge, says to me they made it over without issues and perhaps being young girls this gave them a feeling of confidence/independence knowing that these bridges are supposedly hard to cross. If they had this confidence feeling, maybe it caused them to be more adventurous and thus, Kris ending up injuring herself, possibly falling off an edge of the waterfall, getting caught in the tree on the way down and the jolt of getting caught in the tree could maybe have injured her (thinking like whiplash/neck injury) in a way that she couldn’t move. Maybe even in a panic and the burst of adrenaline having just fallen and being caught in a tree, not thinking straight, got out of the shorts to get free and fell and maybe was injured/stuck at the bottom of the waterfall, separated from Lisanne. Then this is why the shorts were found in a tree submerged in a waterfall, because they were left behind.
This is all just speculation of course and not fact.
You are doing really great work btw!
Look at the photo! The large rip is in the back.
Tomem cuidado,a curiosidade matou o gato.
Pra vc tudos sabem porque elas morreram, entao tambem vc sabe. E assim? Pode falar o porque numa forma hipotetica para no se implicar. No contrario ta falando besteira.
this is a good theory and works for explaining some things. but if this happened how were their remains found so distorted and scattered around? also some of the phone analysts wouldn’t add up either
Hey guys! Do you guys have access to the photos that weren’t made public? I believe one of the girls parents said there was photos of them being in rough shape.
Also, what other photos do you have access to from the anonymous source?
Where can I find the info you’re talking about?
@Teaerra – I also read early on that there were more photographs of the young ladies taken much later in their ordeal, but the parents said their daughters looked so horrible in the photos they refused to have them published anywhere.
I’m pleased to
find someone else who read the same thing.
Great work guys and gals
Remember please their last known location may not be their last location
From the sounds of it everyone down there was in on it
From the school
To the house
To the police
Trust no one and be safe
